Narrow win for Maziya against Foakaidhoo FC. Maziya win 2-1 against Foakaidhoo in last night's Premier League clash. 

Maziya dominated play in early exchanges. foakaidhoo kept them out until the 32nd minute when Abdulla junaid collects a pass muscles past Ahmed Usam (Kalhu) and beats Abdullah Fahud before blasts it past the Foakaidhoo shot stopper Saqib Hanif. Ten minutes later long ball into the box was controlled by Ahmed Imaz (Aakko) who easily beat Ahmed Sizan (Sippe) and Ahmed Vijudhan (Viju) before scoring Maziya's second.

Foakaidhoo slightly better in the second half, started to attack more in the second half. The game came to a stop in the 74th minute for several minutes when Abdullah Fahad deliberately fouled Cornelius Stewart just outside the Foakaidhoo Penalty box. The game became heated when on several occasions the match officials failed to stop the game. Officials from both the sides rushed on to the field to protest. The referee somehow sent off a Foakaidhoo official for dissent.

Foakaidhoo pressed on adding to the late drama. With one of the three center backs Sayed Mahmoud (Ramos) moving to a target striker position. In the 87th minute Mohamed Jailam (Oggy) played made a run with Hassan Nazeem Gassim (Choatu) in to the box. Oggy brought down by Samooh Ali (Samuttey) and penalty given! Oggy stepped up and blasted the ball into the goal 2-1. 

It was too little too late as Maziya held on to claim an important Victory.

Speaking to the press Maziya coach Ismail Mahfooz (Imma) said he expected a tough game from Foakaidhoo and that Foakaidhoo has several very good players in their squad. Foakaidhoo coach Ali Nisthar Mohamed said that his focus is on the TC Sports game and that he has a week to prepare unlike the last few games when they had to play a game in every four days.

Maziya third in the league at the moment with 16 points just a point below second placed Eagles. Foakaidhoo meanwhile remains in the 6th place. Maziya will play against Fehendhoo on the 16th while Foakaidhoo play a day later against the league leaders TC. 

Victory Sports Club will play against Green Streets later today at 16:00 hours before New Radiant play Nilandhoo at 21:00 hours.
