India knocks Maldives out of the SAFF Girls Under 18 Championships. In the game played yesterday India beat Maldives 8-0 to send Maldives out of the competition.

In the last group game, India expected to win had started very well. They took the lead in the  16th minute by a goal from Ashem Roja Devi. Karishma Rai scored a few minutes later. By halftime India led by 5 goals to nil. Yumlembam Pabki, B.Mariyammal and Soni Behra scoring scoring for the semi final bound India.

Maldives did better in the second half. Though they conceded in the 46th minute to Soni Behra's second goal of the game, they did manage to minimize the damage from the first half. Sangita Kumari scored in the 57th minute and Jannat Adam of Maldives scoring an own goal few minutes after Kumari's goal.

The result sends India to the semi final of the SAFF Under 18 Girls Championship while Maldives finishes last in the group. Maldives lost the other group game to Bhutan 13-0. India finished first in the group. They also beat the hosts Bhutan 4-0. India will play against Nepal on the 5th in the semi finals. Bhutan will host Bangladesh in the other semi finals.
