OPINIONS: My Alternative Team: We Have So Much Talent
Maldives

With the ******(TV Channel) going on about winning the SAFF Suzuki Cup without Ali Ashfaq, One has to make a fair estimation about the squad and those that missed out. Here are my 11 players. Mind you I am no expert, These players show that we have an abundance of footballing talent in the Maldives.

TEAM: I choose to play a 4-3-3- formation with the following players.

This is my selection

I have chosen Ali Suzain as the Coach because in my opinion he is the one with the best track record. He has the respect of all the players. My second choice would be Ihusaan (Saanthi), his work with Eagles is nothing short of wonderful team building. Nepal and Sri Lanka has had better performance with local coaches and we have not have the best in foreign coaches. Nothing to lose for me. If we have to have a foreign coach I would chose Popov as he knows the players and lets be fair to the guy, he didn't get enough time.

In goal I have Chosen Mohamed Imran of Victory Sports Club. I believe he is one of the best goalkeepers at the moment. Is deputy would have to be Ifrah of TC Sports.

In center back I want to choose Zaadhu, but since he is not active at the moment I have chosen Green Streets' Saaif and TC Sports Banjo(Haneef), Saaif just missed out of the National team for SAFF Championship and Banjo has been exceptional for TC Sports these two seasons. Valencia's Haseeb will be my replacement for the center backs.

On the right back is Riley (Rilwan Waheed). I think he is still Maldives best right back. It was sad to see that he didn't get a call up. He recently had offers from Oman so I am not the only one who thinks he is good. On the left is Hokey(Mohamed Rasheed), he is recovering from injury. Both these attacking full backs will be a menace to the opponents. A suitable substitute will be Saamir of TC Sports who just missed out.

I will choose a three man midfield with Adubarey(Ashad Ali) behind Messi(Ismail Easa) and Umair. Adubarey will be the strong man and ball winner. Messi creativity and Umair trickery will dominate the middle. Back up will be Gerrard(Ahmed Visam) of Azzam of TC Sports, he can also operate in wide positions.

Upfront in Maldives, it's a joke to exclude the main man Dhagandey(Ali Ashfaq). He will be supported on the sides by Ahmed Rizvan, the trickiest Maldivian forward and Mulakey(Yashfadh Habeeb) of Maziya. I know Mulakey plays in midfield now, but i saw him playing in Eagles as a winger and he is outstanding. Rizey is one of those really tricky players who will create space for himself and score. With Dhagandey and Mulakey, these front men will destroy these SAFF region defense lines. Suitable substitutes will be Nattey (Ahmed Nashid) of Victory.

There is my squad. They may not be a very young squad. But they will win games mind you!
