Foakaidhoo shot-stopper Saqib Haneef is named the vice captain of Pakistan National team.

Pakistan National team is currently in Jakarta preparing for Asian Games to be held in Malaysia later this month. Saqib Haneef who has been exceptional in Dhiraagu Dhivehi League this season is named deputy to Pakistan's national captain Saddam Hussain. Saqib shined in the Minivan Championship playing for Maalhos Sports club keeping 3 clean sheets in 4 games. Foakaidhoo upon qualification to premier league signed Saqib along with few other players from Maalhos including Egyptians Khalil Jamal, Mahmoud Mostafa (Kahraba), Maldivian International youth players Mohamed Jailam (Oggy) and Ahmed Wajeeh among others.

Saqib was introduced to Maldivian football by BG Sports in 2016. Their coach then, Mohamed Shazly signed the goalkeeper who kept 5 clean sheets in their relegation season. Saqib returned to Pakistan before signing for Maalhos Sports Club in February this year.

Pakistan will travel to SAFF SUZUKI Cup after the Asian Games. Pakistan is in group A of SAFF Suzuki Cup. They will play against the hosts Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. The top two will play against India, Sri Lanka or Maldives.

In the Asian Games, Pakistan will play against Nepal, Vietnam and the favorites Japan.
