The Football Association of Maldives has officially terminated the contract between Male League champions, New Radiant Sports Club and star player Ali Ashfaq.

Ashfaq had recently filed a complaint at FAM against New Radiant regarding salary issues at the club. FAM’s Player Status Committee had investigated the matter and had terminated New Radiant’s contract with Ashfaq on 21^st June 2018. The committee had also requested New Radiant to provide the compensation for Ashfaq’s service at the club.

New Radiant had mentioned at their facebook page that they had parted ways with their star player and had thanked his service at the club. They had also wished him the best for his future.

Ashfaq had recently been linked with a rumor that he was in talks with TC Sports Club. The rumor followed with Ashfaq taking a photo with the head coach of TC Sports Club, Mohamed Nizam (NIzambe). Although the photo had no relation to the rumor, many football supporters had guessed that he was linked with a move to TC after Male League.

New Radiant Sports Club was the most successful club of 2017 as they were crowned champions of Premier League, FA Cup and President’s Cup. The blues leaded by the man of steel Ashfaq recently added Male League shield to the clubs trophy collection.
