Blues move to top spot with win over Bengaluru

New Radiant Sports Club earned a comprehensive 2-0 win over Bengaluru beating the side by two goals to nil. Blues became the first Maldivian side to beat Bengaluru and and saw a impressive attendance of more than 3,000 supporters out doing the last few National team games played in the National Stadium.

Blues came into the game without Spanish defender Gotor who was suspended for today's game. Afghan international Haroon Amiri filled in as center back while Mohamed Rasheed (Hokey) played as left full back. Rilwan Waheed (Riley) took the right full back position while the ever versatile Akram Abdul Ghanee (Aku) played along with Amiri.

Angel Luis Riuz Paz (Candela) played as the holding midfielder while Hamza Mohamed (Hampu) and Mohamed Umair filled the central midfield positions. Riham Abdul Ghanee (Bobby) was the play maker of the Blues side while Ali Ashfaq and Ali Fasir (Sentey) played up front.

Bengaluru came into the game with captain Sunil starting up front while Spanish center back Juanan and midfielder Victor Perez were some noticeably changes from Albert Rocca's side.

New Radiant started the game in dominating fashion and took the lead through Ali Fasir who fired home to give  Blues the lead on the half hour mark.

In the 48th minute Ali Ashfaq capitalized on a mistake by Begaluru players to double the Blues lead to two nil. As the game went on Ali Fasir had several chances to extend his side's lead but failed to find the net. Deep into injury time Fasir went past two Bengaluru defenders and lift the ball over onrushing goalie only to see his effort hit the woodwork.
