A BITTER START FOR CHAMPION VILLA AS AHMADHIYYA EARNS FIRST THREE POINTS!

Today in the second match of under 18 age category Ahmadhiyya International School has managed to defeat current champion, Villa International High School in Milo Inter School Football Tournament 2018.

During today’s evening encounter of most successful school in the age category, Ahamdhiyya scored twice against the champion Villa side. A single goal in each half gaurenteed the first three points for Ahmadhiyya from the match.

Both sides started the game well, as both side kept dangering the opponent goal. It was Villa who seemed little better in the build ups but unlucky to finish the chances. Nevertheless Ahmadhiyya kept trying to use their chances well, resulting at the 36th minute, it was Ahmadhiyya who scored the opener of the evening. Just four minutes before the half time, Ahmed Azmoon took the lead of the game making it 0-1.

Unlike Ahmadhiyya , Villa kicked of the second half with a change to the lineup as they were struggling the right side of the pitch. Same as in the first part for the match, it was Villa looked as better in the posseions of the ball as they kept creating many good chances to level the game. Somehoe the current champion could not find the back of the opponent goal.

Just four minutes in to the second half, it was once again Ahmadhiyya who scored the second of the evening and doubling their lead at 46th minute by a back heading from forward Ahmed Ahadhulla.

During the last 10 minutes of the game, Villa improved their attacks as Ahmadhiyya defense line was kept busy keeping the champion from scoring. Throughout the whole match Villa was unable to convert their good chances to a goal.

Villa side brought fresh attacking feet while the game reached its last minutes, however, the new players could not change the game on favor of Villa.

During last year’s campaign, the match between this two teams ended on Villa International High School favor as they did manage to win an amazing comeback victory while Ahmadhiya was leading the game till the half time by 4-1. Villa managed to win the game by 6-5 by scoring 5 goals coming from behind.

 

After today’s match, each team has played one game equally, Ahmadhiyya stands at the top of the table while CHSE (Center for High Secondary Education) and BAEC (B.Atoll Education Center, Eydhafushi) in the second and third position, while champion Villa finds the bottom of the ranking.

Under 18 age category will be played as a mini league format among four participating teams and a final between the best two teams. Unlike previous years, this year the number of participants in this age category has dropped. Only four schools will be taking part in the under 18 age category this year.

 

In the next match of this age group, CHSE (Center for High Secondary Education) will meet Ahmadhiyya International School on 22nd March, Thursday evening 16:00 hrs at Henveiru Ground.
