WITH COACH NAADH, DHIVEHI SIFAINGE CLUB (DSC) PREPARATIONS AT TOP SPEED TOWARDS 2ND DIVISION.

With Coach Ahmed Naashid (Naadh), Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC)’s preparations towards upcoming FAM second division is at top speed.

Since late of February DSC has being training during morning, same as numbers of other teams also has begun preparations for their battle to gain the first division spot.

With Coach Naadh, Dhivehi Sifainge Club lifted the third division trophy last year playing against the well-financed Sea Life Sports Club in the final.

It is believed DSC board was impressed by the work done by Coach Naadh during last year’s third division campaign and decided to handover the responsibilities to give DSC to first division promotion. Coach Naadh is the master mind behind the successful journey of current champions, Club Zefrol to win last year’s second division. For sure Coach Naadh will be in full experience with last year’s duties with Zefrol. Right after Zefrol, last year Coach Naadh was acting as the assistant coach at first in DSC and immediately took in charge of the team after DSC parted ways with the firstly appointed head coach, the legendary, Coach Moosa (Kuda Moosa) who left the DSC head coach responsibilities due to some family emergency.

Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC) has being a strong side in second and third division football ever since they were introduced to the local football in 2009. They won their first silverware back in 2013 as third division champions and was promoted to second division. Following year, in 2010, DSC also managed to win the second division and was promoted to the top flight football. But due to undisclosed reasons, Football Association of Maldives back then decided not to give the ticket to MNDF and police the first division spots even though they win the second division. And the next two years, 2013 and 2014 DSC sat back from local football as they did not participate in either second or third division tournament in those two years.

Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC) once again proved the worthiness back in 2015, coming into local football after two years and won the third division that year, getting promoted to second division. In 2016, DSC faced a very bad campaign in second division as they weren’t the strong side they were back in previous years. And was relegated to third division again after a poor campaign in second division.

It is believed, same as years back, this year also, DSC will be taken as favorites among the contenders to win the second division. Meantime the DSC team is with 100% local players, but it is believed they will try to use foreign talents.

This year’s Football Association of Maldives’s second division football tournament is scheduled to kick-off on 9th April. The current champion of the second division is Club Zefrol.
