FAM SEARCHING FOR A NEW HEAD COACH FOR THE NATIONAL TEAM IN TOP SPEED

The Football Association of Maldives has announced that they are in the search for a new head coach for the Maldives National Team as the contract with current National Team head coach, Darren Stewart will end by this month.

FAM’s technical director, Ihsan Abdul Ghani (Saanthi) has stated that they will be giving the opportunity to a coach, who is willing to and has the experience to develop young players. He has also stated that CV’s have been coming in and they are currently in the process of shortlisting the candidates.

FAM made the decision to find a new coach as Darren Stewart has failed to reach the targets he was assigned; qualifying the national team for Asian Cup and to win the SAFF Championship. National team did not perform very well as they only won against Bhutan in five qualifying matches.

Saanthi stated that they will be bringing the new coach within a few weeks after the Male League starts and he will be given the target of winning SAFF Championship this September. He also said that FAM will provide a break of 25 days for the National team to practice for the SAFF Championship.
