" WE WON'T PERMIT COMPETITIVE TOURNAMENTS FOR UNDER 12 KIDS"- FA MALDIVES

Football Association of Maldives has announced that FA will be not permitting any party (associations and organizations) to conduct competitive football tournaments for the under 12 age group.

FA Maldives stated that the decision was taken by the FA technical committee after a discussion during their recent committee meeting regarding complaints and suggestions received by the parents and from the local technical football personals.

FA Maldives shares the concerns regarding to the competitiveness involved in the tournaments aimed for the under 12 age group boys, “putting the underage boys into unnecessary match pressure”, “giving improper training”, “free of play and enjoyment is undermined due to the competitiveness” and due to these players are psychologically effected bad and some of the boys even refuse to go ahead with the sport. As a result, players learn bad manners and are force to expose to negative side of the game instead of learning and getting developed in the game in its right way.

FA also noted that competition for these age groups are not supported by FIFA and Asian Football Confederation.
