The Football Association of Maldives has announced that from 2018 onwards, Dhivehi Premier League will have 10 teams battling for the glorious title.

Dhivehi Premier League is the biggest tournament conducted by the Football Association of Maldives. Champions of the league will have the opportunity to compete in the AFC Cup in the following year.

Since establishing the tournament, this would be the first time 10 teams will be competing in the league. As per FAM’s strategy, top 6 teams from Male’ league and the top 4 teams from Minivan Championship will compete in the 1^st round. Top 8 teams of the first round will compete in the second round to become the champions and to earn a spot in AFC Cup.
