New Radiant beats TC in penalty shoot out to win the FA CUP

In a trilling final of the FA CUP New Radiant SC beats TC Sports Club in a penalty Shoot out to win the tournament for a record 12th time. TC Sports Club playing in their second consecutive final of the FA Cup took lead in the early stages of the match. The goals for TC Sports Club were scored by Stewart in the 6th and 26th Minute of the match. TC playing a counter attacking game from the start became more defensive after the 2 goal lead. Even though New Radiant dominated much of the ball possession they were unable to find a reply before the end of the half.

New Radiant scored their first goal of the final match in the 50th minute by the experience forward Ibrahim Fazeel (Oppo) which made the match more exciting. New Radiant SC who went in search of an equalizer brought on Hassan Adhuham and Mohamed Rasheed, in place of Mohamed Rilwan and Abdulla Rasheed to fresh up their personal and the dividend was imminent.

TC Sports Club who were defending very deep in their own half could not hold on to the lead as New Radiant SC equalized in the 70th Minute of the match, goal scored by Ali Fasir (Sentey). With 90 minutes up, the match went into extra time.

New Radiant dominated and created most of the attacks in the two half’s of the extra time, but were unable to find a way through the solid and packed defense of TC Sports club.

With 120 minutes played and no result the match went into penalties. New Radiant won the penalty shoot 4-6 to be crowned the FA Cup champions for a record 12th Time. It must be bitter for TC and their coach to lose the second consecutive final of the FA cup.

But TC can look at the positive as they have qualified to the AFC Club Championship as the second team from Maldives for the first time in their history and look forward for the 2018 season with promise and hope.
