Spurs leapfrog Gunners into eighth place

Jose Mourinho keeps track of his record of not losing to Arsenal in a home game after Toby Alderweireld fired home a thumping header later in the game. The result also means Spurs climb over their rivals in the league standings.

Arsenal started off bright and had the edge and their brilliance was rewarded when Alexander Lacazette fired home a thumping knuckle ball into the top corner of the net beyond the reach of stretching Spurs skipper Hugo Lloris.

Sloppy in defense Arsenal were punished by Son when a back pass slid past David Luiz into the path of Son who chipped the ball over on rushing Arsenal goalie Martinez.

The Gunners lost their heads in the second half and surrendered possession to Spurs. Mourinho's men kept pressuring the Arsenal goal and finally found their way in the 81st minute thanks to a thumping header from Belgian international Toby.

With results going Spurs way they sit eighth in the standings with 52 points while Arsenal are on ninth place with two less points to their name. Meanwhile seventh place Sheffield have a two point lead over Spurs as the race for European football continues. However it is highly unlikely that both Spurs and Arsenal will make it into the Champions League spots.
