Japan fears Tokyo games might not take place next year

Tokyo olympic bosses fear the postponed Olympics may not even happen next year. The games were due to take place in July but now has been moved to next year due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Officials say there are no guarantees the Olympics  which are worth $10 Billion will take place next year as the Covid-19 outbreak may still not be under control.

Organizing committee CEO Toshiro Muto said: “I don’t think anyone would be able to say if it is going to be possible to get it under control by next July or not. We’re certainly not in a position to give you a clear answer.”

Japan have had 5,300 confirmed cases and fewer than 100 deaths so far during the pandemic and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has declared a month-long state of emergency.
