Coronavirus - Belgian league to be ended with Brugge as champions

The Belgian Jupiler Pro League's board of directors have voted unanimously for the season to be called off and a general assembly's approval is likely to be given to the league's decision in a meeting due to take place on April 15.

In a statement, the league said: "The board of directors unanimously decided that it was not desirable, whatever the scenario envisaged, to continue the competition after 30 June."

The Belgian league has just one game left in the season and therefore, are prepared to award league leaders Club Brugge the league title. Brugge sit comfortably at the summit 15 points clear of their nearest rivals KAA Gent.

Should the general assembly approve of the league to be ended Brugge will clinch their 16th championship and qualify for next season's champions league.
