Japan hopeful of hosting olympics - Shinzo Abe

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has said the country is hopeful of hosting the Olympics this summer "without a hitch".

Speculation regarding the likelihood of the Games going ahead remains rife as the corona virus crisis worsens across the globe but Japanese organizers and officials have been positive.

Japan has seen more than 1,400 cases of Corona virus but has been successful in keeping the virus from spreading through out the country.

The Japanese government has spend over 11 billion euros in preparations for the game with a number of sporting venues being built and many renovations taking place.

The Olympics are due to take place between July 24 and August 9.
