FA Cup to start on Thursday

FA Cup is set to take kick-off on Thursday with TC Sports and Club Eyadhuafushi set to battle it out in the opening game of the competition. FAM opened the chance for all registered clubs to take part in the competition but only TC, Eyadhafushi, Green Streets, Maziya, DA GRANDE, Foakaidhoo, Eagles and Villimale united decided to take part in the competition. 

FA Cup returns after a two year absence. The competition was not held in 2018 and 2019 due to fixture pile up due to poor scheduling. Defending champions of the tournament are New Radiant Sports Club but the Blues will not take part as they have been banned from all footballing activities by FAM.

The first ever FA Cup was held in 1988 and New Radiant are the most successful club in the competition with 12 titles while Club Valencia have won it on five occasions. 

Maziya are the favorites coming into this years edition.The final of the competition is set to be held on the the 19th of March and all clubs fighting are set to give a huge fight as an AFC Cup spot is up for grabs.
