Club Green Streets calls for fair and equal rights from the media that broadcasts live games, highlights and news reports. Please find below the press statement released by the club in this regard.

PRESS STATEMENT BY CLUB GREEN STREETS

In our continued effort to develop football in the Maldives and to become a dominant force in the game in Maldives, we have reached notable milestones and experienced ample positives. As a team that promoted through the ranks of FA Maldives, Club Green Streets (CGS) has reached top division football and have competed against veteran teams in the nation.

However, the club have also noticed unfair treatment against our club, mainly when it comes to broadcasting live games on TV. The most recent event that reaffirmed our suspicion was PSM Sports repeatedly omitting CGS games from broadcasting live on TV. The club's fixture against New Radiant SC on Friday night, 28th April 2017, which PSM Sports posted highlights from the game also featured two goals from NRSC but not the goal from CGS. This sort of inequality in broadcasting and promoting damages the club's reputation and hinders with the work CGS have planned to develop young talent in the country. With regret, we condemn this inequality and unfair treatment as it directly effects the progress and success of our club, on and off the pitch.

Club Green Streets have taken the initiative to train youth players under our management and club, by producing youth teams and a club academy to promote active lifestyles and football itself, targeting the next generation of footballers in the Maldives. CGS also accepted the invitation from Maldives Soccer Mates to enter a veterans team for the veterans challenge held this Ramadan, in order to provide a platform for football veterans in Machangolhi to stay involved in the game. The club's vision is to spread the joy of the game to all age groups. Just like any other top division football club, CGS does it's part in promoting youth and football. The club has been in advanced negotiations with foreign academies to train local youth players in short term training courses and will soon announce departing players, batch by batch. This is all done within the club's financial budget and with the help of our valued partners, sponsors and the government of the Maldives. Our social media activities have also been enhanced and evidently up to par, as a first division football club should be. Despite all the efforts from CGS, unfortunately, repetitive disregard when broadcasting games portrays a different picture that negates the image this club is tirelessly working to create.

Thus, with immediate effect, Club Green Streets hereby calls for fair and equal rights from the medias that broadcasts live games, highlights and news reports. The club also requests the support of the local media in aiding the club in it's mission to further more professionalize football in Maldives and to develop world-class talent from this wonderful and beautiful island nation.
