Inter School Football Towards Future

Match day 5 in Group C of Mamen Inter School Football Tournament’s U-13 tier held one of the twists of the whole tournament as Rehendhi and Thaajuddin take wins and sail into the quarters.

The evening kickoff saw Imaduddin take on Thaajuddin. Both teams came into the game knowing a win would get the into the quarters. Looking back at games of both teams, the Orange army had won two games and drawn one game and was on the top of the group table. Thaajuddin on the other hand won 1, drew 1 and lost one game meaning they had 4 points and was also in the fourth position of the table.

The first half began with both teams going head to head. There were amazing scenes as the juniors played a very good game of football with high intensity. The first goal of the game came late in the first half, courtesy of Thaajuddin’s Raain Hashim. That was followed up with another Thaajuddin goal in the stoppage time of first half, scored by Yoosuf Hayyan Musthafa. All gone wrong for the orange army in the last minutes. After much discussion in the changing rooms, both teams came back with a head to head display to lose nothing. However, it got all over for Imaduddin when Abdhulla Rizan Mohamed scored in the 48th minute. That was the goal that would knock out Imaduddin after the night game.

The night game held Rehendhi against Kalaafaanu. A loss was wanted by neither teams as they knew the winner of the game would make it into the quarters. However, if the game ended in draw the quarter spots would favour Kalaafaanu as they would then go on level on points with Imaduddin but have a higher goal difference. That was not to be as Rehendhi started the game dominantly netting in the 10th minute, courtesy of Hussain Aush Ahmed Hussain. That was the only goal of the game and the goal that takes Rehendhi into the quarters with Thaajuddin.

The group C after those results are led by Rehendhi with 8 points. Thaajuddin and Imaduddin are level on points but, Thaajuddin takes the second spot with a +3 goal difference. Imaduddin has a -1 goal difference. Then is Kalaafaanu in 4th place meanwhile Huravee in bottom.

The last spots in the quarters would be decided in matchday 5 of group D. stay tuned to Boalha.mv for
