Inter School: VIHS into the final for the third year running
Inter School Football Towards Future

Tonight’s U-18 tier of Mamen Inter School Football Tournament held the battle for the last spot in the final. It was last year final’s rematch, VIHS against Ahmadhiyya. The perfect chance for VIHS to get revenge for final loss at penalties against Ahmadhiyya.

Looking at both sides, VIHS came into this game with a pretty decent record, 22 goals scored while 1 was conceded. A side only the table leader and finalists, CHSE was able to knock past a goal against. With two wins and one draw they had 7 points. Ahmadhiyya on the other hand lost their opening fixture against CHSE and had won the following two games against Rehendhi and Ghaazee.

It was head to head battle from the kick off itself as both teams went all out and desperate to get the vital win to make it to the final. The tense game saw its first goal in the first half, in the 29th minute courtesy of VIHS’s Areen Abdulla Ibrahim. Despite the goal Ahmadhiyya still ended the half with a convincing play.

The half time talks didn’t seem to have any effect on Ahmadhiyya as VIHS started the second half strongly and scored five minutes into the half. Ibrahim Imran with a stunner. Ten minutes later the same player scored another putting the game to bed. This was followed by another goal in the 63rd minute, scored by Ahmed Samah.

The game ended 4-0 which mean VIHS now tops the league table on goal difference (1. VIHS (+25), 2. CHSE (+23) ). That means VIHS will have the advantage of wearing the home kit in the final. Rehendhi and Ghaazee will battle it out in the last league game to end the tournament in a good way as they clash tomorrow night.

CHSE against VIHS is always an exciting game, across all inter school competitions as both sides push each other to the limit. If CHSE wins it would be their second inter school title this year as few days ago they won the Inter School Volley Tournament which for the past two years was won by VIHS. The support for both sides by their school mates is also absolutely incredible. Cheers, chants, drums and clapping sequences used by both teams’ supporters are well known across the Inter School family. The final will take place on Thursday night at the National Stadium.
