Inter School Football Towards Future

Today featured the second round of group stage games between the U-13 group B teams in the Mamen Inter School Football Tournament.

The late afternoon kickoff held Muhyiddin against Jamaluddin. Both teams came from losses on match day 1. Jamaluddin losing 3-0 to Lh.A.E.C meanwhile Muhyiddin thrashed by Aminiyya 8-1. If either team was to go forward, a win was essential at all costs. Both teams played high intensity football from the kick off going head to head on attack and countering the opposition. Three minutes from half time Muhyiddin took the lead courtesy of Mohamed Anoof Ahmed. Much to discuss for the blues heading into the dressing room.

The blues started the second half much strongly with an early show of dominance. And five minutes in their work payed off as Umar Bin Hassan Shiham levels matters between the two sides. Both teams were searching for a winner desperately as full time whistle was approaching. The same score remained as the game headed into stoppage time. Two minutes into the stoppage time Hoodh Ibrahim Ali wins Muhyiddin the matchas his strike ends up in the blues net.

This match was followed by the match between the top two teams of the group, Aminiyya and Lh.A.E.C (Lh. Hinnavaru). Both team came from wins in their first games and the game started just like the previous game with exciting attacking football. Absolutely marvelous display by both team’s defenses as both teams headed into half time tied at nil-nil despite the attacking prowess of both sides.

The second half showcased an even higher level of intensity football by both teams. However, there was no drama until the last tenth of the game. In the 54th minute, six minutes from full time Aminiyya scored a goal in the form of Hussain Shaihaan Ibrahim. Lh.A.E.C came up with an immediate reply as they scored four minutes later, courtesy of Ali Afzaan Ibrahim. It seemed like it would end in a draw, but Aminiyya just wasn’t done just yet. A minute into the stoppage time, Izman Ibrahim Rasheed found the winner for Aminiyya in a game which saved all its drama for the last tenth of minutes.

These results meant the blues are now out of the competition after two back to back losses. And Aminiyya sit on top with a 3 point lead and a confirmed spot in the quarters. Lh.A.E.C and Muhyiddin will have all to play for in the last round of fixtures in this group as both teams would by looking forward to a win which would get them through to the quarter final. A draw in that game would take Lh.A.E.C to the quarters due to goal difference.
