Inter School: Ahmadhiyya thumps Rehendhi to get their first win
Inter School Football Towards Future

Ahmadhiyya comes back to life after a win against Rehendhi this evening.

Matchday four of Mamen U-18 Inter School Football Tournament held two sides coming after defeats in the first game to face each other. Defending Champions Ahmadhiyya lost to CHSE 3-0 on match day one which was followed by VIHS’s thumping of Rehendhi by 11 goals to nil the next day. Both sides came in to the game knowing a win would be vital to go forward in the tournament.

The first half was started pretty dominantly by the Ahmadhiyya side as they were keen on getting all three points to themselves. This dominant start included a hat-trick completion with back to back goals scored by Raisham Adam Saeedh in the 2nd, 9th and 26th minute. This hat-trick was followed by a Shaan Hamid strike which rippled the Rehendhi net. Zuraarath Ahmed Gasim netted their fifth goal in the first half in the 31st minute as Rehendhi was wearing out energy and desperately needed a break. Two more goals by Abdul Hamid and Shaan Hamid in the four minutes that followed would end the scoring of first half.

It seemed as if Rehendhi might’ve improved after the team talks but their second half start was yet another massive blow for them as Yaaish Yoonus strikes a beauty which ended up in the Rehendhi goal. In the two tenths of minutes that followed, Zuraarath Ahmed Gasim completes his hat-trick by scoring in the 49th and 57th minute. It looked all too easy for Ahmadhiyya, but Rehendhi seemed to be a better side in the second half than they were in the first. However, huge mistakes in defense allowed Ahmadhiyya to counter and get shots away a lot in the minutes that followed. Rehendhi’s substitute keeper Miyaz made plenty of outstading saves in the last twenty or so minutes which included around three one on one opportunities for Ahmadhiyya. Despite their better play Rehendhi conceded again courtesy of Raisham Adam Saeedh and the dying minutes Zuraarath Ahmed Gasim also rounded up 4 goals to his name.

This meant the game ended in a heavier defeat for Rehendhi than their previous outing against VIHS. 12-0 was the final score as matters came to an end at the national stadium. Rehendhi with almost no hope of a return despite having two games left to play. Ahmadhiyya remains in the same 3rd spot they were before they came into the game due to the goals they conceded against CHSE.

It’s still all to play for in this league format U-18 tier of the Mamen Inter School Football Tournament and the next match will be on Monday, the 25th March between VIHS and Ghaazee. This will be followed by CHSE against Rehendhi on Tuesday, the 26th March. Stay tuned to Boalha.mv for more updates.
