Surprises in group stage – Exciting Semi Finals
Yesterday’s games finalized the exciting race for the last semi-final spot from group B.
The evening game last night featured Eagles with a 100% record against a Green Streets side coming from two back to back wins after the first game loss against Maziya. The high intensity game went on which showed Green’s determination to get into the semi-final for the second year running. However in the 15th minute Musannif Mohamed of Eagles opened the scoring in the game. But just before the half ended Green managed to equalize courtesy of Abdulla Yaameen. It was all to play for in the second half knowing a win for Green would guarantee them a spot in the semis. Eagles still keen on keeping their 100% record intact, managed to find the Green net in the form of Adam Fahumaan in the dying moments of the game. That was the winning goal for Eagles who progress to the semis in style with a 100% winning record and meant that Green would have to wait for the result from Eydhafushi match to breathe a sigh of relief.
The night game between Eydhafushi and United Victory was the final and a pressure filled game in the Group B. with Green failing to win earlier on the day Eydhafushi had the chance to make it to the knockout stages with a win. A determined Eydhafushi side shot two quick fire goals in the 29th and 30th minute in the form of Hussain Hanaan and Ismail Shareef. However United found a consolation goal in the 85th minute.
That result meant Green Streets go through on goal difference to the semis who had 6 more goals than that of Eydhafushi. Tomorrow is going to be a day of excitement as the semis will take place in evening and at night. The Evening game will feature group A winners TC against group B runner-up Green Streets, afterwards the night game will feature a dominant Eagles side with a 100% record against Da Grande who are the group A runner-ups.
The matches hope to showcase plenty of excitement and young talent and most importantly which sides will make it to the final.
