Goalkeeper Course Starts With Record Number Of Attendees

Goalkeeper course starts with a record number of attendees in FAM Turf Grounds, Male.

30 goalkeeper coach trainees including four women started goalkeeping certificate course this morning. The Iranian AFC Instructor Basharad Mahboubi will conduct the certificate course in Male from the 20th to the 24th of January on the turf grounds. Maldives National Team goalkeeper coach Aslam Abdul Rahman will be the course coordinator.

Among the notable attendees are Legendary goalkeeper of Maldives Imran Mohamed, National team goalkeeper Tholal Hassan(Toplak), former Valencia goalkeepers Hassan Ali, Hussain Habeeb and Mohamed Akram. Goalkeeper trainers from Premier League clubs Hussain Hameed(Dakey) Suhail(Suweyto) and Saleem(Meta) are also attending the Goalkeeper Certificate course.

According to the Football Association of Maldives, the purpose of the course is to raise the standard of goalkeeper coaching. FAM is looking to create a positive environment for the future of Maldivian goalkeepers by raising the standard of goalkeeper trainers.

The FAM is looking to establish a goalkeeer academy to develop goalkeepers. This course also paves the way to creating a data base for goalkeeper trainers and goalkeepers. FAM had earlier announced that only certified goalkeepers will be allowed to register as goalkeeper trainers in Premier League Clubs.
