TC begins youth team training
FAM U-21 Youth Championship TC Sports Club

TC Football Club has started their youth team preparations. TC is carrying out the training currently on trail phase and in the coming days the final 30 players squad for the tournament will be finalized. TC is the sixth club to start the preparations for the upcoming youth tournament scheduled to kick-off on February 3rd. Club Eagles, New Radiant Sports Club, Maziya Sports and Recreation, Club Green Streets and the newbie, Foakaidhoo Football Club, all have already began their training.

So far TC featured in the tournament once, in 2016 only. TC were the runner ups of the youth tournament in their debut year (2016). They lost to Club Eagles in the final of that year. After having a great debut year, TC went on to miss the following two tournaments as TC side decided not to take part in.

Once again coming into youth will make the upcoming one of the most competitive tournaments after 3 years, since it is also believed that there will be a significant rise in the numbers of competing teams in this year youth championship.

Last two years there have being a noticeable drop in the numbers of participating teams in youth level. Only 4 teams compete in the last two youth tournaments.

The format for the Youth Championship changed last year. This year's youth tournament was carried out as an under 19. Making the following youth tournament as an under 21, FAM wishes to provide the opportunity to this year's youth players to play in the coming year. And FAM will be carrying out this format (under 19 once in two years, and under 21 in the following year) in the following years. Eagles the most successful youth club in the Maldives lost out to an impressive Green Streets last year in the final match.
